Reflecting on a Humbling Honor
Well, this was certainly something! I recently received some incredibly humbling news that I wanted to share. It was with immense gratitude and a touch of disbelief that I was selected to receive ASSP’s 2024 - 2025 Charles V. Culbertson Outstanding Volunteer Service Award.
To know that fellow ASSP leaders nominated me for this recognition was truly an honor beyond words. Volunteering within ASSP had always been a passion of mine, a way to connect with peers, contribute to the advancement of our profession, and give back to a community that had given me so much. To have that service acknowledged in this way was deeply meaningful.
I was also thrilled to have been invited to the ASSP Leaders and Honorees Celebration during Safety 2025 in Orlando, Florida. The thought of joining fellow volunteer leaders, Past Presidents, Fellows, and other award recipients for this special event was quite exciting.
The Celebration Details

A heads-up for attendees: I was told we would be getting our pictures taken around 4:00 PM ET, so arriving a bit early was encouraged!
Looking Back on a Rewarding Experience
If you were planning on being at Safety 2025, I sincerely hoped you could join us for this celebration of leadership and service within ASSP and the ASSP Foundation. I was looking forward to an evening of good company, conversations, and camaraderie, complete with complimentary drinks and appetizers.
Interestingly, award recipients also had the opportunity to attend the in-person Leadership Conference just before the celebration. It sounded like a great way to connect and learn even more.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you to ASSP and to everyone who made my volunteer experience so rewarding. It was a privilege to contribute to this incredible organization and the safety profession. I genuinely looked forward to celebrating with you all in Orlando!
